| Encouragement of Dormant (Adventitious) Buds on any Orchid |
| This use of plant regulators is actually an extension of #2 above (activation of dormant buds applied to any orchid--or for that matter to any plant). In the future we will provide additional photos of successful applications but in the meantime a few examples will illustrate the use of Keikigrow Plus. For example, we have successfully applied plant regulators in lanolin to adventitious buds of Roses, Mahonia, Nepenthes, many succulents and cacti. |
A common use of Keikigrow Plus assists the development of multiple leads on standard Cattleyas. Although the success rate is not as high as with Phalaenopsis, it allows development of back dormant bulbs without injury to the plant. Many sparsely developed orchids may be encouraged to develop back growths.
| It is usually quite easy to induce dormancy in orchids such as Mormodes, Catesetums, etc. Getting the plant out of dormancy, however, is frequently a problem. Application of Keikigrow Plus can force the dormant buds on a pseudobulb that is reluctant to go back into growth.

This Cycnoches is following a normal pattern with assistance from the plant regulator. We recently returned from Venezuela with several Coryanthes bulbs that had been dormant for over two years. Application of Keikigrow Plus has now produced double healthy growths on one of the bulbs.
 | During repotting back bulbs with viable dormant buds are usually discarded. Note how new growth has been induced on these usually discarded Lycaste pseudobulbs.
 | The original experiments with this magnificent Phalaenopsis intermedia var Diezii have produced many benefits. The most important lesson we believe is the growing awareness that an important aspect of conservation, along with flasking and meristem culture, is the hormonal regulation of those plants already in the hands of both amateur and established collectors of the orchidaceae. |
