![]() | A small keiki at about three months after application of Keikigrow Plus. Note that the roots have not yet begun to form. |
![]() | Note that leaf and root differentiation have begun at about four months. This time period will vary with various species and complex hybrids. High nitrogen fertilizer is especially helpful at this time. |
![]() | Generally root development follows leaf differentiation and requires no assistance. Pot up according to your usual practice. It is not necessary to cut the keiki. A brisk twist will usually cause the keiki to separate without difficulty. The small scar may be protected with a fungicide. A mixture of bordeaux compound in lanolin, Stoprot acts both as a fungicide and a sealant. Adding Vitagrow B-1 to your regular high nitrogen fertilizer (weakly, weekly!!) which contains rooting stimulants will be helpful for the speedy development of a strong supporting root system. Sometimes keikis develop roots very slowly. Roots may be initiated by the application of lanolin-based Keikiroot. |
![]() | When about four roots grow to 2 cm (one inch) long, the keiki is ready for potting. With proper care it will flower in about 12 months. |
